Alien
3 is back with Ripley, this time the female hero has landed herself
in a hell of a lot of trouble. This time we are not greeted with a
military barage of grunts and massive guns, but a prison of murderers
thief's and just bad people. To the common eye a small break out of
alien wouldn't seem a bad idea for these people, but when you have
a group of headstrong people trapped with the beasts which will kill
you or lay eggs, then its time to arm yourself with whatever you can.
 The main plot of this third successive movie is to eliminate the alien disease, they don't seem to be doing a great job at it. This time Ripley is trapped with the smallest Male prison alone, with the thought of her dead new daughter and possible husband in the back of her mind. Not really surprising she is a little depressed with it all. However she succeeds in prevailing to give in, instead using her now invincible effect of being a host to lure aliens to their doom. Cunning the plot is riddled with untidy ends. But it comes down to the simple formula - the drool, cover a dog in it or lay it on the floor and the audience is prepared for an attack. Video Quality There is a sort
of dry/wet look on this film, it runs through several stages; to begin
with the cold flaky feel of the introduction sequence have a faded
feel, progressing to areas where lamps or flashlights exhibit a smoke
effect around the screen to the end where the warmness of molten lead
give of a hot orange tint. White to black the movie is stable, most
scenes having excellent lighting, just enough and not too much. You
know the right amount to see perspiration. Detail levels are fairly
low, although this is forgiven by the smoothness of textures and the
colour balance.
Audio Quality Most of the time
the audio scene is very simple, with long dialogue and few effects
in between. However the parts which really excite give off a lot of
surround sound action - most of the tunnel shots are really interesting,
and the dialogue tracing around the front speakers. The detail is
good and bass deep. The vocals are also very well recorded. It is
probably the best of the collection.
Extras Basic, sparse,
very poor. The Making of Alien 3 is good though.
